Dear Parents,
Welcome to our first week of grade 1! We have been very busy learning daily routines and expectations in our classroom. Throughout the year we will be creating a community with the underlying theme of kindness and taking care of ourselves, each other, and our place. As we began our journey into writing, students thought about the reasons they would like to become better writers. All students expressed the desire to become a writer so that they can communicate with others, some wanted to write messages to their parents, and even write books! Students represented their understanding of ways to be kind to others through pictures and words. Here are some of our ideas:
Everyone was so excited to begin grade 1! As a way of capturing our excitingment students created a self-portrait to capture what they looked like on the first day of grade 1! Take look below:
Please remember that being with other children all day, interacting, playing, and learning all day, every day is exhausting. Your child may be hungrier or tired than usual at the end of the day. Please remember to pack a sizable snack for our morning snack time and lunch as well. All this learning makes us hungry!
I look forward to getting to know your child, working with them, and watching them grow! Grade one is an exciting year!
